Fasten your seatbelts — G Flip simply dropped their third studio album ‘Dream Trip’, and it’s precisely what the title guarantees: a wild, neon-drenched cruise by way of 80s nostalgia, queer pleasure, and big-screen pop theatrics.
Unabashedly impressed by Bruce Springsteen, late-night drives round Los Angeles, ‘80s reverb, and maximalist drums, the retro-fueled assortment sees the acclaimed singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist efficiently mix a plethora of eclectic musical kinds into one cohesive, genre-bending sound.
Made up of 10 gloriously vibrant tracks — together with the singles ‘Disco Cowgirl’, ‘Large Ol’ Hammer’, and ‘In One other Life’ — the LP sees the Melbourne-born, LA-based musical polymath taking part in each instrument and teaming again up with co-writer/producer Aidan Hogg.
Commenting on the file, G Flip says: “‘Dream Trip’ is my little ‘80s Butch Springsteen fantasy. This file was written, recorded, and produced in my studio in LA with Aidan Hogg. We revamped 100 songs to get to the ultimate 10 that make up the album.”
“This album is impressed by the ‘80s. I’ve at all times resonated with ‘80s music, it embodies a lot musicality – larger-than-life theatrics, shiny colors, epic solos, big drum tones, and a sonic panorama that looks like a film. I wished to embody all of this on this file and create my very own ‘80s world. I wished to make songs that make you dance, sing, cry, f*ck, chortle, and revel in on an extended drive. I hope this file feels acquainted and unique, previous and new, nostalgic but nonetheless current. I hope you benefit from the Dream Trip.”

It’s saying, ‘Properly, if I’m going to hell anyway, I’m going to set this place or the mattress ablaze with my queerness’.”
